  • Tamworth Legion 714 Addington Street Tamworth, ON, K0K 3G0 Canada (map)

Join us for an afternoon with Amanda Hunter, the founder of Worm Wrangler.

Discover through this engaging talk, how worms can reduce waste, build healthy soil, and support thriving gardens. Then stay for an optional hands-on workshop where participants can build their own vermicomposting bin to take home.

The afternoon will be divided into two parts:

2:00 pm - Part 1 - Lecture: The Wonderful World of Worms

In this engaging talk, Amanda introduces the fascinating world of composting worms and the role they play in healthy soil. Participants will learn how vermicomposting works, why worm castings are such a powerful soil amendment, and how worms help turn everyday food scraps into a valuable resource. The presentation covers how and when to use worm castings (worm compost) in your gardening.

Admission: FREE or by optional donation to the GRG

(Any donations support our ongoing community events like this one, and other local initiatives.)

3:00 pm - Part 2 - Make & Take: Build Your Own Worm Bin (optional)

If you so choose, stay after the talk,  for a hands-on session where participants will build their own vermicomposting bin to take home. Amanda will guide everyone through setting up the bin, adding bedding and worms, and learning how to care for their new composting partners. By the end of the session, participants will leave with a fully functioning worm bin and the knowledge to confidently compost food scraps at home.
