Plant Matters: A Gardening Roundtable

We had a great panel of four local experts who answered gardening questions on a variety of topics. Karen ten Cate: co-owner of Bumblerock Farm near Roblin with her husband Maarten, heirloom seed grower, organic market gardener, apiarist. Susie Meisner: owner/proprietor of SpindleTree Gardens, Master Gardener, cook extraordinaire, long-time GRG Steering Committee member. Dorothy Wagar Oogarah: organic farmer and organic garlic grower for the past five years, second-time champion garlic grower at this year’s Eastern Ontario Garlic Competition, musician. John Wise: organic farmer since 1978, owner of Wiseacres Organic Farm in Centreville, Deputy Reeve of Stone Mills Township and running for another term in October. (Blair Richards Koeslag: long-time forager of wild edibles, PINA-certified Permaculture teacher, Chartered Herbalist, organic vegetable grower, spinner had been invited but was unable to attend.)

The Roundtable was followed by a Seed Exchange. and refreshments and a chance to socialize and compare notes with other garden enthusiasts.
